About the Anaheim Amateur Radio Association
The Club:
The Anaheim Amateur Radio Association, founded in 1961, is one of the oldest radio clubs in Orange County. Membership to AARA is open to all licensed amateur radio operators and to people who are interested in getting their ham radio license or who want to learn more about amateur radio.
The Association operates two repeater sites that provide excellent coverage for the Southern California area. One site is on the Veterans Hospital in Long Beach. Another site in on the St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton. Each site has one 2M and one 220Mhz repeater. For more information see the AARA "Club Repeaters" webpage. Our repeaters are open to all licensed amateur radio operators, and you are welcome to use them whether or not you’re a member of the AARA.
Meetings:
Monthly meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Anaheim Fire Training Center, Anaheim, CA.There is no meeting in December because that month we have our Holiday Dinner. The Association attempts to have an interesting presentation at each month’s meeting; these are usually technical topics that are pertinent to ham radio and operational techniques. We also encourage people to bring items for a "Show & Tell" session following the presentation. This allows for new or more experienced amateurs to share what they have learned about ham radio. Newly licensed or those individuals studying for their license are encouraged to join in the discussion and ask questions about topics that are of interest to them.
Also, the Club holds a breakfast on the 1st Saturday of each month at 8:00 AM at Keno's Sports Bar in Anaheim—2661 W La Palma Ave, Anaheim, CA 92801. All are welcome to attend and discuss amateur related topics while chatting with fellow hams over breakfast.
For more information see the AARA "Meetings" webpage.
Newsletter
The club newsletter, Squelch, is sent to each member monthly via email. It includes Association news and articles of interest about amateur radio. Members are encouraged to submit articles or information for publication. Articles etc. should be received by the 20th of the month to be included in the next month's edition. The current and previous editions of Squelch are available on the “Newsletter” webpage.
